About Me

When people ask me why I became a therapist, it’s hard to pinpoint when that dream began. I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley of deep South Texas, an area of diverse people and cultures, where I became fascinated by people’s stories and experiences. After moving away from my hometown to go to college at Southwestern University, I found my most interesting classes to be in Sociology. I spent every summer working with kids, both in the U.S. and abroad, as a camp counselor and volunteer in rural communities.

After college, I was an AmeriCorps member at an Austin nonprofit for several years, where we provided shelter, hospitality, and services to people arriving from all over the world. It was a humbling job where I met the most amazing humans. There I discovered a deep passion for supporting people through difficult times, finding profound value in the simple act of listening.

When I took the next step to pursue a Master’s degree in Social Work I found a way to blend my love for children with my passion for supporting people through difficult times. After 7 years working at a local children’s mental health nonprofit as a bilingual (English/Spanish) therapist, I opened a private child therapy practice in 2019. There are many things I love about this work, but at the top of my list is the relationships I get to build with kids and their families as they grow and overcome challenges.

When I’m not at work I enjoy being outdoors, baking, long road trips with my family to visit as many National Parks as we can (I’m up to 15!), and walking my rescue dog, Gunnar.
